CUSTOMER INFORMATION
Quotation terms
Standard terms · Last updated 27 August 2026
1. Quotations and acceptance
Unless stated otherwise, a quotation is valid for 30 days. It is based on the information available, reasonable access and the stated scope, assumptions and exclusions. Acceptance may be confirmed in writing, electronically, by paying a requested deposit or by instructing work to begin. A website enquiry alone is not acceptance.
2. Scope and unforeseen work
Only work described in the quotation is included. Extra points, relocated accessories, decorative fittings, specialist controls, smart systems, asbestos work, groundworks, plastering, decorating, flooring repairs, making good and unforeseen remedial work are excluded unless expressly stated. Concealed defects, unsafe existing wiring, inaccessible routes, changes required by the network operator or other unexpected conditions may require a revised price.
3. Customer responsibilities
The customer must provide safe and reasonable access, disclose known hazards, secure permissions and consents they are responsible for, protect valuables, and provide electricity, water and welfare facilities where reasonably required. Delays or repeat visits caused by unavailable access, other trades or incorrect information may be chargeable.
4. Variations
Changes requested by the customer or reasonably required by site conditions will be discussed where practicable and may alter the price and programme. Variations should be confirmed in writing. Urgent work necessary to remove immediate danger or prevent damage may be made safe before a full price is agreed where authorised or reasonably necessary.
5. Price, materials and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling. Any deposit, staged payment, tax treatment or material allowance will be shown in the quotation. Unless otherwise stated, invoices are due within seven days of the invoice date. Overdue sums may attract interest at 2% per month where this has been expressly agreed and is legally permitted; statutory interest and recovery rights may apply to business customers.
Special-order or customer-specific materials may require advance payment and may not be returnable once ordered, except where the customer has a legal right to cancel or reject them.
6. Cancellations
Consumers may have a 14-day cancellation right for contracts agreed at a distance or away from business premises. Where you expressly ask for work to start during that period, you may have to pay a reasonable amount for work performed before cancellation. The right may be affected once a service has been fully performed with the required request and acknowledgement. Emergency repair rules may differ. Nothing here removes a statutory cancellation right.
7. Timing and delays
Dates are estimates unless expressly agreed as fixed. Haywards Electrical is not responsible for reasonable delay caused by unsafe conditions, material shortages, weather, access, other trades, network operators, illness or events outside reasonable control. We will keep the customer informed and rearrange where reasonably possible.
8. Testing and certification
Testing and certification are included only where applicable to the quoted work. Existing defects identified during testing are not automatically included for repair. Applicable certificates and notifications will be issued in accordance with BS 7671, Building Regulations, competent-person scheme requirements and any legal duties. Payment remains due under the agreed terms, and overdue amounts may be recovered separately through lawful debt-recovery procedures.
9. Workmanship and materials
Haywards Electrical provides a six-month workmanship guarantee from completion, unless the quotation states a longer period. Manufacturer warranties apply to materials and equipment. The guarantee does not cover misuse, accidental damage, alterations by others, normal wear, external supply faults, existing defects or failure to follow operating instructions. This guarantee is additional to, and does not limit, statutory rights.
10. Problems and access to remedy
Please report a suspected defect promptly and allow reasonable access to inspect and, where Haywards Electrical is responsible, put it right. The customer should not arrange third-party remedial work at our cost without first giving a reasonable opportunity to investigate, except where urgent action is reasonably necessary for safety or to prevent further damage.
11. Liability
Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Haywards Electrical is not responsible for pre-existing defects, inaccurate information supplied by others, or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made. Consumer statutory rights remain unaffected.
12. Suspension, termination and disputes
Work may be suspended if payment is overdue, access is unsafe or unavailable, or continuing would breach legal or technical requirements. Either party may end the agreement for a serious unremedied breach. Amounts due for work completed, committed materials and reasonable costs remain payable, subject to statutory rights.
Please raise concerns directly so there is an opportunity to resolve them. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to mandatory consumer protections.
